A Home Business Idea

Start a business. Why not? Employ yourself!

The hardest part of starting a business on the Internet is to get started! On this all the authorities that I consulted agree. So the challenge is to find an easy-to-follow action programme that would get you started.

Why now?

Even if you think you’re secure in your job, now is the time to start your own entrepreneurial business on the Internet. The Internet is still young. Almost two thirds of "Small, Small Businesses" (SSBs) have yet to establish an online presence.

Many millions more, from stay-at-home spouses to those who hate their day jobs, are merely thinking about it.

Start a business!

This article is to help you find your home business idea. Read everything. Follow the links. Think about it. Dream about it. And go for it!

Here are three tips:

Ø  Start small. But start. You can do it for $300 per annum with a start-up investment of maximum $800. Much cheaper than any brick-and-mortar start-up.

Ø  Don’t try and know everything before you start. None of us can. The market is ever changing. Start your business. Make your mistakes while it’s still small. Grow and learn as you go on. The excitement and adrenalin alone make it worth the effort.

Ø  Forget about setting up a structure first. Operate as a sole proprietorship. Get started and successful first before you spend money on a structure.

But who do you choose for hosting your Internet business? I did a lot of research before I decided on SiteBuildIt! or SBI! They recently challenged any hosting company in the world for proof of a better track record than SBI! based on traffic to the Web sites they host. No one could claim the prize!

Proof?

The proof SBI! offers is rather difficult to ignore. Have a look by clicking here. Only Dell and Apple get more traffic that SiteSell. They do even better than IBM!

SBI! currently costs an incredible $299 per annum! The tools and assistance make it possible for anybody that’s reasonably comfortable in surfing the Internet to set up his or her own business on the Internet. It even helps you to find your small business idea.

Results?

But how about results? Do the Web sites SBI! host also get results?

You don’t think you can build a real business on the Internet? I didn’t believe it either! After all, if the dotcoms with masses of venture capital behind them could not do it, how would I get a business going? Today I just cannot believe the amount of traffic the search engines send to the Web site of Diaspora-Solutions.com. It took several months and my site is not rated highly yet, but the unique visitors are growing daily.

To see some other weird and wonderful sites that use SBI! as a host, and their traffic ratings, click here.

It's proof-beyond-belief that everyone knows something about something, and that others are looking for that information!

But what do I know?

This brings me to the Case for the Eyewitness. Every person is an eyewitness to some experience. If you were able to write an "eyewitness report", you’ve got a captured audience. Eyewitness news has touched people for thousands of years.

HV Morton was a Fleet Street reporter who gained international acclaim and established himself as a descriptive writer and reporter. We enjoy his books, published by Methuen, tremendously. To present the Case for the Eyewitness report, I would like to quote from his book In the Steps of St. Paul:

There are many incidents in Acts which clearly indicate that they are the impressions of an eye-witness. But the account of the riot at Ephesus, and the description of the ship wreck at Malta, stand by themselves as pieces of graphic reporting. Although the riot in the theatre is not a "we-passage," and thus does not proclaim the personal testimony of St. Luke, I am sure that he was present and saw the disturbance. I believe that most men who have handled the "copy" of reporters, and have some skill in detecting the work of an eye-witness, will agree with me. There is a marked difference between the report of even a small fire in a wood yard, written by a man who got there in time to see the wood burning, and the account of a less rapid competitor, no matter how skilful, who arrived too late. It is this sharp, inimitable touch of first-hand observation which seems to me to distinguish the description in Acts.

More Evidence?

Other examples of eyewitness reports are plentiful in the Bible. Look at Exod. 9:31,32 and Exod. 15:27.

Also CS Lewis commented on this in his paper Fern-seed and Elephants published in a special edition of his works called Christian Reflections by HarperCollinsPublishers.

In this paper he blasted writers of his time claiming "new truths" about the New Testament out of the water. I quote a few lines that he wrote regarding the Gospel according to John:

I have been reading poems, romances, vision-literature, legends, myths all my life. I know what they are like. I know that not one of them is like this. Of this text there are only two possible views. Either this is reportage – though it may no doubt contain errors – pretty close up to the facts. . . Or else, some unknown writer in the second century, without known predecessors or successors, suddenly anticipated the whole technique of modern, novelistic, realistic narrative. If it is untrue, it must be narrative of that kind. The reader who doesn’t see this has simply not learned to read.

The bottom line

The bottom line is that eyewitness reports are in demand. People know they can learn from this. And an eyewitness report can easily be converted into a How To Info Product - knowledge converted into a useful tool.

As long as you bring KNOWLEDGE (of your subject matter or passion, not of the intricacies of the Internet) and MOTIVATION to the table, you have an excellent chance of building a thriving online business, over time, which delivers multiple streams of income.

Is it possible?

Is it possible to have a successful entrepreneurial business with preferably only family members as employees? Yes, absolutely. There is a business in each one of us and we often don’t know it. And that business can do a lot better than most dotcoms!

Enjoy it! Think about it. And do it!
