South African Churches in the Diaspora!

The one thing we really miss, living in the Diaspora, is the joy of attending a Church Service on a Sunday morning at a South African Church. And the joy of worshipping with your home congregation!

The longing is unbearable early on a clear Sunday morning when you hear the church bells ringing in the valleys of Switzerland.

We tried integrating with local churches, but it’s just not that easy. In our part of the world there’s only one English speaking congregation nearby. For worshipping in Afrikaans, we’ll have to travel to London or Holland!

However, several South African Churches are experimenting with on-line ministries. I’ll point you to some that I have found.

Ø    Hatfield Christian Church maintains a very comprehensive Cyberchurch ministry here. You can download sermons in audio or video format.

Ø      An online ministry was launched by Shophar Christian Church based in Stellenbosch. You can find their download page here. You can download sermons in audio and text format. There are sermons in English and Afrikaans.

Ø      You can listen live to the very popular Radio Pulpit by clicking here. They offer also a lot of other useful stuff.

Ø      Vir mense in die Verenigde Koningryk, is daar die SA Gemeente London. Jy kan uitstekende preke in Afrikaans aflaai in oudio formaat. Hulle het die formaat van die webwerf onlangs bygewerk, en ek dink mens kan hulle maar dophou. Hulle gemeente is oor honderde kilometers versprei. Dis moontlik dat hulle selfs ‘n wyk naby jou stig.

Ø      Vir mense in Nederland, is daar die Afrikaanse kerk.

Ø   Stephan Joubert launched the E-Church after the tremendous success of the Afrikaans version.

Ø      Stephan Joubert se E-Kerk in Afrikaans is so geweldig gewild dat 'n Engelse weergawe ook nou beskikbaar is.

Ø      Hier's 'n nota ontvang vanaf Gina Hendricks, Hamilton, New Zealand: Daar word gereelde Afrikaanse eredienste aangebied in verskeie stede in New Zealand. Die Afrikaanse Christenkerk van New Zealand het 2 preekpunte in Auckland en 1 in Hamilton elke Sondagoggend. Meer inligting op webwerf: www.afrchristenkerk.co.nz. Wonderlik om te beleef wat dit vir Suid-Afrikaners in die vreemde beteken om hulle godsdiens in hulle eie taal te kan beoefen en mede-immigrante te kan ontmoet en geestelik versorg.

Ø      Die NG Kerk Moreletapark gemeente bied preke aan, wat onlangs gelewer is, in teks en oudio formaat. Jy kan selfs lewendig na 'n erediens luister.

Ø   Lewende Woord, Pretoria, bied onlangse preke in mp3-formaat aan asook artikels in PDF-formaat.
